When a fighter reaches a certain level of celebrity his fights start to sell themselves. This is the case of Manny Pacquiao. His upcoming bout against Joshua Clottey seems to be lacking the hype and advertisement that fights of the past have received. The reason for this is simple; Manny has reached such a high point in his boxing career much of the hype is not necessary. If you’ve seen Pacquiao in action you know what to expect on fight night and that’s action, plenty of action. He always delivers and his fans adore him for it, win or lose.

This coming Saturday Manny Pacquiao will once again step in the ring, much to the excitement of his fans. No, it’s not the fight we all expected and hoped to see against Floyd Mayweather; instead he will be facing Joshua Clottey.

Maybe the reason this fight isn’t getting the hard sell is the fact that both of these guys are nice, maybe a little too nice at times. No pre-fight pushing or screaming matches at the numerous press conferences they've held to date; just nice guys saying nice things about each other. Now before you call me crazy, let me say this: Yes, I know there is advertisement for this fight and I also know the promoter (Top Rank promotes both fighters), is trying to sell it. What I don’t see, however, is the non-stop television commercials or even the HBO 24/7 series.

Maybe this fight would have generated more buzz if Manny Pacquiao hadn't destroyed Miguel Cotto in his last outing; the same Miguel Cotto who holds a win over Clottey. We have become so used to Manny Pacquiao fighting the best boxing has to offer that even a fighter of Clottey's reputation and ability seems like a step back for Manny Pacquiao.

The question I’m asking is this: Are you buying this PPV? Will you pay or even care to see Manny Pacquiao in the ring against anyone other than Floyd Mayweather or Shane Mosley? Maybe even Andre Berto? I want to know what you think, so please visit our forum or our Facebook page and tell us if you will be buying this PPV and why?
