I Would Like to See Joshua Clottey Win but it Won't Happen...
Pacquiao vs Clottey
By Jason Snowden
If you had told me two years ago that Manny Pacquiao would be getting in the ring with a guy like Joshua Clottey I would have been very excited. Clottey is a big, strong welterweight with a granite chin and plenty of power, a real test for any fighter.
However, I suppose it's a credit to Pacquiao that his achievements over the last 2 years have been so impressive that to me, Clottey doesn’t present a challenge at all.
In my opinion, Joshua Clottey is one of boxing's nice guys; he really has had to work his way from nothing to get this chance and I have no problem with him sharing a ring with Pacquiao. Clottey is a good boxer, he has a fantastic chin, he is strong, hits hard and when he lets his hands go he is very dangerous. We saw this in the first half of the Miguel Cotto fight.
The downside to Joshua Clottey is that he seems to switch off half way through fights, so his stamina is a question. Manny Pacquiao is just too relentless to not outwork Clottey within 12 rounds. They say in boxing the hare normally beats the tortoise and on Saturday night we might see this in practice. Pacquiao’s lightening fast hands and feet should be too much for Clottey to cope with, especially when it seems Pacquiao can move so quickly for 12 rounds of the fight.
If it were on Pay per View I would buy it, it will be a good fight to watch. Luckily in the U.K. it’s on Sky Sports 1 and not box office so I will be tuning in.
