Arum, Jones and Cowboys Stadium to deliver Pacquiao vs. Clottey March 13

Pacquiao vs Clottey Updates
Dallas Boxing Examiner | Matt Stolow

The Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey fight set for March 13 at Cowboys Stadium was a done deal before Bob Arum's private plane even landed in Dallas, Texas early Saturday afternoon. Jones let loose with the ultimate Big D VIP Treatment for his guests Arum and Top Rank President Todd duBoef.

In fact, Sunday, Jones, Arum and duBoef meet again at the empty stadium in a more relaxed and quieter mode to go over details and money than with 93,000 fans last night.

The Cowboys won big, 34-14 over Philadelphia Saturday night and advance to the second round of playoffs next Sunday at Minnesota if anyone cares.

Only in Texas can you have the largest football stadium in the world host a fight between a Filipino and a Ghanian.

In between going down on the field while the Cowboys did their pre-game warm up and sitting in the owner's suite, Arum and duBoef visited with former President George W. Bush, Hall of Fame baseball star Nolan Ryan, and the National Football League's all-time leading rusher Emmit Smith, along with some other former Cowboys players.

Although Jones offered, the Top Rank executives did not come to town on Jones' private plane.

A press conference to make everything official is being readied for Monday, January 18.

I get the feeling with the Cowboys winning big at the time and Jones being able to relax, that the B.S. was getting pretty deep in the luxury suite and Jones and Arum matched wits and tall tales throughout the night.

I couldn't confirm but believe the fight will be on HBO PPV and not on regular HBO World Championship Boxing.

Jones would visit the suite periodically but was normally upstairs in a smaller suite for himself, son Stephen, and other team officials during the actual game.

Arum is a noted New York Football Giants fan, but was all for the rival Cowboys last night. Jones is a big believer in putting big boxing events in big stadiums and last night was proof of it. He also wants to put a big fight in New York's new Yankee Stadium

Arum once tried to buy an NBA basketball franchise but the effort failed.
